So I plan of getting a ferret(s) soon and I have been doing a lot of research. I'm thinking about feeding them grids from a site like Raw Feeding Miami. I was wondering if I feed them grinds what else should I add in?Also how often should I feed them bones to help their teeth, and how do I prepare the bones?

I visited their site, and it looks like they don’t include hearts in the grinds or sell them separately. You’ll need to either add taurine (the cat supplement they list, Alnutrin, works) or 10% by weight of the diet should be hearts. Other than that, looks like good stuff. You may want to buy some bone meal to mix into the food too- ferrets should have between 10% and 15% bone in the diet, and this is tweeted up or down depending on poop firmness. Providing the ferrets with raw meaty bones to eat is great, too- chicken wings work well and a lot of supermarkets sell them in big packages for people.
As for preparing the bones, you can start by putting them in a bag and smashing them with a hammer on a cutting board if you like, but some ferrets don’t need this step. Try just giving the wings without doing anything to them first and smash them if need be.

Thanks for the information! How often should I feed bones?
I was thinking to feed them grinds with hearts and then add bones. I would switch up proteins also.

Here’s a handy chart to help with switching up meal types, it assumes you feed two meals a day: holisticferretforum.com/natural-diet/raw-diet-the-meat-of-the-site/balancing-frankenprey-with-alternative-meals/ The more bones you slip into the diet, the more important it is to balance it out with other frankenprey items, like organs and hearts. If you find a grind that includes 10% heart or add in taurine, then it’s fully balanced and the more bones you add the more it gets thrown off. Frankenprey is harder than just giving grinds, but it’s cheaper and better for teeth cleaning.
