Hello, I want to have ferrets soon and want them to have a lot of enrichment, but where I live all the grass is sprayed with pesticides, so I don't really feel comfortable letting my future ferret play there. I want to have them feel some sort of nature though, so I was planning on bringing sticks and leaves or rocks from the outside, and I also wanted to have dirt for them. So is compost ok for ferrets, even if it comes from food that has pesticides on them? Thanks, and also name suggestions for ferrets hehe

Do dogs walk around where you live? I'm assuming if its safe for dogs, it would be safe for ferrets.
Not sure about compost, but you could always buy a bag of top soil from a garden centre, rather than use compost. That way you know its safe.
We must have gone through loads of names before deciding on Professor Pepperoni and Banjo Star
I think you'll find naming them easy once you get them as their names will match their personalities
When are you getting your ferrets?

I would use potting soil or topsoil. I collect fallen leaves in the autumn and put them in a kiddie pool. all the ferrets love it

I don't really know when I'll get them, I want to feel like I have enough time for them... maybe college if it's near home and I have enough free time. If not I'll wait after and foster in the meantime.
I think the ground has herbicides because it's mostly grass, but I should ask and check. Dogs walk on it but the owner might not know if it's safe. I'll update on what they say. If I buy topsoil, how do I know if it's safe or not? Do you have one you use? Thanks for the advice!

Some people use play sand. There is also organic soil. I would spread it out in sun for a while tho. Every time I get it from Lowes it is very moist.
