For the past few days Aron has been congested badly and some wheezing. The nights have been oddly cold inside despite it being above 80F outside, usually when this happens Alice would catch a cold but will go away when I turn the temp up, this did not.
After a couple of days it didn't improve, but worsened, so I took him to the non-exotic vet nearby. Not only did he have an upper respiratory infection, but they saw in his stool he had the jaundice protozoa. I thought I took care of what was thought to be coccadia months back, but maybe it was misdiagnosed and the parasite managed to survive treatment? Since he has the parasite chances are they all have it, including me, though I haven't had any symptoms that could be tied to it for the last few weeks.
Started their treatments yesterday. Aron is already doing better and is playing with Sean right now, though I'm going to go crazy trying to sanitize a free roam home to keep the protozoa from coming back after the treatment ends.

I'm assuming he's on flagyl (metrnidozole?) It treats bacteria and protozoan infections. Coccidia is a protozoa. Intestinal protozoa are transmitted through the fecal-oral cycle, so unless you happened to get poop on your hands (it happens) and then put you hands near your mouth without washing, it's unlikely you contracted it.
