Hey guys, my (almost) 4 month old ferret has had 2-3 poops that look like this, this morning and last night. He's eating and drinking normally, and has normal energy. I have no idea what would cause this red chunk in his poo? He has his first visit with the vet on Thursday.

Looks like something undigested. Is it soft? Or has he eaten something he shouldn't have?

He has a fuzzy toy with that color,so maybe it's possible that he accidentally ripped some fluff off and ate it. I'm hoping it's nothing more serious

weellllll, eating something he shouldn't could be quite serious. I lost my favorite ferret Scamp because he ate a soft foam ear plug. He passed most of it but a small bit lodged in a turn in his small intestine. $1600 in emergency vets and surgery and he dodn't make it. Does your guy get any treats that are that color? I would investigate that toy and run the blockage protocol at least until you get 3 more poops out of him.

After it hardened a bit I could tell it was synthetic fibers from a red colored fluffy toy he has. He hasn't had any abnormal poops after that, so I think he may have accidentally eaten it. I'm going to take the toy out though and make sure it's a supervised play only

probably he'll be ok, if that was all, but of course depending on how much he ate and how much he passes. if it was me i'd save everything and take the poops and toy to the vet. I surely hope all comes out ok. I've had a few that were into rubber but never any that chewed up cloth

I don't anticipate any more like that but I'll still bring the toy to the vet and explain it to them. Little devil! Lol

I would definitely keep a close eye on him if he could have eaten anything he shouldn't have, and as UncleJoe said would consider the Blockage Protocol
