PSA...
For those yet unaware, as of Feb 01 I will be officially stepping down as owner of both Holistic Ferret Forum, as well as Holistic Ferrets fb group. Katt Rall will be taking over both.
Once that happens, I will be staying on as a member only for a while, not admin. Once we lose Contessa I will be leaving the ferret world indefinitely. It has been far more heartache over the last decade plus, and once ferretless I will need a break. I have no idea how long that break will be.
For a while now, I simply have lost heart and interest. I don't know if I will ever be able to regain it. It may be I never come back. It may be a year or so from now you will see my name reapply for membership to the group.

I am so sad Sherry. I am feel teary as I read your post. You don't know how much we have looked up to you. The comradery with You here meant so much to us as well as your knowledge about ferrets. I wished I could bestow blessings on people. I would give you happiness and health.
May 2021 be wonderful to you. ..... whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

You’ve been an invaluable resource and I thank you for staying as long as you have, even through the sadness. I hope your future is good, ferrets or no ferrets in it.

I completely understand the heartache. I've only been a ferret owner for less than a decade, and in that time I've lost 3 of my furbabies due to various cancers. Each of the losses absolutely devastated me... I can't even imagine the toll it must take on those of you on this forum who have been long-time ferret owners and lost so many of your fuzzies...
I'm wishing you comfort and healing during your time away. Thank you for the invaluable resources and advice you've provided for the members of this forum!

I respect your decision and I think Katt will be a great replacement. This forum has taught me so much and I was honored to be selected as an admin. I have had ferrets only since 2009, and I have been blessed to have 30 of them, Now we are down to 3 3 year olds, but I am 62, and we have lost 4 this year. We managed to get one RCF girl to 10 years old, but she was a mess and it was awful to make the big decision. we don't plan to replace the 3 we have. I've always had kats since i was 10 and we have 3 4 month olds now. I would never turn down a ferret in need, but I totally get it. Thanks for all that you have done and taught all of us. When I go I'm taking all of my little wooden boxes with me to my grave

Sherry, so sorry to see you leave but I do understand the heartache and pain in losing pets. I appreciate all the knowledge you have left here on these boards and the help you have provided so that I, and others can do our best in caring for our ferrets. It's invaluable.
I hope your heart will heal and you remember all the great times you have had with your ferrets. Know that you have improved the lives of the little ferrets you cared for and I'm sure they loved you for it.

I would say I am rather new at this forum but many times I caught myself to read a topic just to see what Sherry commented. I fully understand what you are feeling and also how hard was last year for UncleJoe. I have only one ferret, she is five and has adrenal. I do not know how long she will be with us but thinking that ,my heart stops....me who have to deal with my son's leukemia .....humans or animals....for me it is the same.
Anyway....thank you for all the advices and help you offered to new members, including me.

Oh Sherry, it will definitely be the end of an era. I have enjoyed both your remote kindness and advice. I wish you well for wherever the future leads you. You are one very special lady and I am honoured to have been able to know you. Farewell and Bon Chance!

Thank you everyone. I figured our 10th anniversary of this incarnation of the forum is the best time for me to step down. As I mentioned, I no longer even have the heart for it any longer. Not that I don't dearly care for every friend I've made over the years, but can no longer deal with the pain.

You'll be missed for sure, but I understand all too well how much work is involved in running forums and FB groups. Have a good rest and we hope to see you back should you feel that the time comes to rejoin.
Stay safe and lucky
Neil
