Hi, I have a 3to5 yr old male ferret tht a friend got from a shelter and gave me to help with the loss of my previous ferret Skunkums. The one I have a question about is a male 3 to 4 yrs old that has been treated for a UTI. The vet called today and said theres alot of blood and L shaped cells in urine test. She advises getting an ultrasound at CSU. What could the problem be? I am worried to death over him! Thanjs, Vicki

I have never had a ferret with this problem but just off the top of my head ---maybe bladder stones? Kibble fed ferrets can get these due to the fillers in kibble---especially if it is peas. Yes I would get an ultrasound.
Hope all goes well for your little one--let us know how all turns out.

I agree. Ultrasound if you can. What is he eating and what was he eating at the shelter? I have a bit of medical training but I'm not familiar with L-shaped cells. Blood in urine suggests infection or damage to vessels caused by irritation, and stones/crystals can do it. There were no crystals in the urine? I hope you can get this figured out
