If you can find one they like, they are fine. But I'm not sure they will use one like a cat. As for catnip, it has no effect on ferrets, so no worries. Our ferts share a cat tower with 3 cats. They like to climb it, but the only time I see any of them scratching anything is to say they want thru a door or out of the cage lol. May I ask if you trim your ferret's claws? Cats scratch to sharpen and shed layers of their claws. Ferret claws do not work like that and domestic ferrets require regular trimming, every 2 weeks minimum

Sometimes I let my babies nails get a bit too long and they get stuck in my sweaters and even their baby blankets. I would worry about that with posts, and I have not heard of a ferret scratching post.
