after a very sleepless night (for the humans, of course), she seems to be fine still.

Commercial milk chocolate with fillings is of little concern, there’s so little cocoa in it. She’d have to be eating a large amount for it to cause problems. Dark chocolate bars are the dangerous stuff, or powdered cooking cocoa. Glad nothing worse happened! If more chocolate was consumed or a darker variety, I’d suggest making the ferret vomit it back up by giving a 1mL syringe of hydrogen peroxide. Do this in a bathtub as the vomiting will be fast and violent, and follow with plenty of water once done.

I've had chocolate stolen in quantities that should be scary. Booger and Goober once stole a package of peanut butter chocolate girl scout cookies and by the time I found it there were only 3 cookies left in it.

thanks for the advice! i’ll definitely remember that next time (though hopefully there will never be a next time - those sneaky buggers). unclejoe - oh, no! what did you do? these guys seem to have a way of finding all the things that are bad for them. then again - for some Girl Scout cookies? i might just risk it all, too. 😅

the chocolate wasn't a problem, but they got a ton of sugar. That's not something you want to give them. Them peanut butter patties were always my fave.

None of my ferrets ever had a taste for chocolate. They sniff at it to see what it is and then shake their heads and go on their merry way. same with milk and butter, no interest whatsoever. I must have the only ferrets in the world that know what is good for them.

Yeah, same here, my two girls don't care for chocolate in the slightest. Coffee on the other hand needs to be kept well out of the way, both Caffeine addicts. Once lost an entire mug of coffee to them, with no ill effects other than them being seriously hyper for 30+ hours. Was a very worrying time. I now never put a mug next to me on the floor when in their room.
Cheers
