Last night fed the ferrets they were both acting normal. Bouncing off the cage and fighting over the chicken wings like always. This morning when I got up both were sleeping still had food so husband and I ran errands. Came back Kona running around DiNozzo still sleeping not too unusual DiNozzo sleeps more than Kona does. They also still have food. Start getting ready for work and DiNozzo is finally awake but not acting right. Typically he runs over to me right away but today he just sits there. I picked him up and he holds his position doesn't really wiggle or anything. So I gave him some Pedialyte mixed with ground turkey before work. When I left he hadn't ate any he just went back to sleep. He is very lethargic to the point even my husband is noticing. On my way into work I called the vet (using bluetooth) to see if they had any suggestions and the only thing they suggested was sugar water but then when they realized he is only 9 months old they said it's unlikely sugar water would fix it and that I should get him seen. I explained I wasn't able to get him into the vet today as I was on my way into work and my husband was already at work. Anybody have any other ideas?

The sugar water is a good home test for insulinoma, but it would indeed be weird for him to develop it at such a young age. Definitely should be seen by a vet if he doesn’t perk up soon.

Is there anything that they really like to eat like egg or salmon oil? See if DiNozzo will eat egg.

Had he been displaying symptoms at a time I could get him into the vet today I would have but unfortunately he wasn't even awake until 30 minutes before I had to leave for work. I would have taken him and been late if my boss wasn't looking for a reason to fire me (he's mad because I've been relatively sick the last couple weeks). I don't get off work until 11pm. The e vet won't see him and unfortunately the vets that do see ferrets aren't open on weekends so I can't take him in until Monday.

I tried some canned cat food as it was the softest thing I had he refused it then I filled a food dish with ground turkey and Pedialyte turned it into a kind of slurry. Then ordered for express delivery my standard animal hospitalization food (baby food that is just meat and meat broth and more Pedialyte since I'm almost out).

Yeah at least with baby food he is getting something in him Yeah it's what the vet recommends when I foster kittens so it's just what I do whenever I have sick animals. These are my first ferrets so I'm just trying to do the best I can

Sugar water did nothing (no real surprise there) he spit out the baby food. However, as I was holding him just now he did display some disturbing symptoms. Yes he is lethargic but half his head started twitching which cause his eye to kind of go in and out.

I'm so very sorry, the twitching is an odd symptom. DIP, little guy.
Will your vet do a necropsy? I'm a little surprised no one asked about his urine or fecal output, with the refusal to eat.
