As the title states, I’m pretty sure my ferret Cookie has nightmares sometimes. I don’t know if anyone else has experienced this but ever since he was a baby (He’s 4 years old now) he would be sound asleep and suddenly let out this terrible cry/squeak. A few times it’s been a full on scream. It always scares the living daylights out of me so I often run over to wake him up only to be greeted with a yawn and a complete normal ferret. Has anyone else ever experienced this.

Yes, Winnipeg sometimes makes pathetic little cries in his sleep. I just stroke him awake when this happens and he lays there with his eyes open for a while before stretching and getting up. Must be bad.

Aww poor baby. I wonder what they’re dreaming about. It’s so strange since Cookie has never made those sounds while awake or even shown any real sign of fear of anything, including the 95 pound dog that I used to live with. Cookie always wanted to get out of my room and make friends with the dog despite the seemingly clear safety concerns. Luckily this was a very friendly dog and although they never really had much one on one contact, the main danger the dog posed was much more accidentally stepping on him then anything else. He was a clumsy mutt, but a sweet boy.
