Alright, so one of my ferrets (about 5) is in really good health, eating, using the bathroom, drinking water, etc. She has had adrenal disease for ~4 years and is being treated for it.
I'm making this post because I've noticed some symptoms that I think might be IBD or IBS.
A couple years ago I had them on kibble and transitioned them to raw, because she was having episodes of vomiting that would happen every two weeks. The vet I had at the time ran some tests and didn't really find anything.
I transitioned them to raw, and the vomiting episode stopped almost completely.
About a week ago she had a bad bout of vomiting and diarrhea, but was acting fine otherwise and was eating. It was really late at night and there wasn't any exotic vets open within 100 miles of me. Because she was acting relatively normal I didn't take her that night. The next morning she was back to normal So I canceled the appointment I had made for the morning. It could have been the breakfast that she had that morning as my cat also threw up that day.
I've noticed sometimes when their (my ferrets) diet changes a little, she will have spots in her mouth that are usually on the roof of her mouth that look like ulcers. I don't think it's from the bone because my other ferret doesn't have them.
When she has these sores (it's usually only one), she'll act like she has something stuck in her throat even though I know she doesn't because she'll get better within a few days and I look in her mouth and can't see anything. She will make a hacking noise like they usually do when they have hair stuck in their throat, and she'll breathe with her mouth open a little bit. It's not like that all the time, even when she does have an ulcer. I know it's not a blockage because she's pooping and eating normally.
I'm wondering if anyone has any input they could give for me? Does this sound like IBS, and do you think it would be a good idea to schedule an appointment with my vet? She had a check up not that long ago in the vet said she was perfectly healthy. I'm thinking it's probably a good idea, but I don't want to go just to be told that nothing's wrong like I have multiple times before.
Any advice would be helpful, thanks.
