I am trying to buy raw to switch my ferrets form kibble and i am confused. I am shopping on mypetcarnivore. Under each category they have a corse ground whole animal (ex. corse ground whole chicken). I am confused. Is this actually the whole chicken? Will this have muscle, organ, heat, and in-bone meat? Or is this not actually the whole animal and i would need to buy extra on top of this? I guess my main question is what is included in whole animal and is it sufficient nutrients on its own. Thanks in advance

If it is like their beaver and muskrat grounds that I bought, then no, it’s not the whole animal. I was disappointed to learn this upon reading the label of the product when I received it as it is said nowhere on the site itself. My muskrat and beaver contained muscle, fat, heart, liver, and bone. I was really hoping for a whole animal grind, as I wanted the nutrients in the other organs! It’s a decent starting point but needs to be supplemented. When I emailed them asking the heart content though, they said they didn’t know, as they didn’t add or remove hearts to regulate it. I guessed a baseline of zero for safety and added all the heart I would need (10% by weight) by myself.

I just wanted to add that Hare Today has ground meat, then ground organ/bone/muscle, and then they have whole grinds. The whole ones would be the kind you want to try.
Rodentpro is the best source for whole prey I've found so far, if you're interested in that option over the grinds. They have sales pretty often on a variety of things (guinea pigs, hamsters, mice, rats, chicken...) I might be ordering from them soon as well.
I placed my first order with MPC the other day with chicken, duck, pork, beef, and mutton - I can post here if they are actually whole grinds or if they are like the beaver and muskrat grinds and missing an extra organ and no clear heart %.

Update on the percentages: The whole coarse ground chicken is listed as containing "Whole chicken including head, feet, giblets" The ground young beef is listed as containing "Ground beef, beef bones, beef heart, beef liver, beef kidneys, beef lungs" ALL of them contain an 80/10/10 ratio, not sure what the heart % is so I'll be supplementing them with that if it's not a whole grind like the chicken The coarse ground whole duck is listed as containing "Duck meat, duck bones, duck head, duck feet, duck giblets" The ground whole mutton is listed as containing "Mutton meat, mutton bones, mutton heart, mutton liver, mutton tripe" so this one will need to be supplemented with extra organs too I think, I bought beef spleen for that reason The ground pork is listed as containing "Pork meat, pork bones, pork heart, pork liver, pork kidney, pork lungs"
