I started swapping out the litter I use recently as the one I was using got really dusty (despite the bag saying it doesnt). One of my kits likes to stick his face in anything and everything and I noticed the dust from the litter making him cough, so I'm using recycled paper pellets now.. but my kits just *wont* use it They either poop in any corner without a litter box, or they push the litter box out of the corner before pooping there. Is this something they'll grow out of, or do I need to drill holes in my litter boxes and try to fix them to the side of the cage ? They've even started digging all of the litter out of the boxes and pooping in places that aren't even corners just to avoid the litter boxes, it's really a pain to constantly have to wipe the cage down and replace blankets

If they're really determined not to use the new stuff you may be forced to try something else or go to potty pads.

Did you put some of their pooh in it? I use paper towels in my litter pans and I also use puppy pads--

Weirdly enough they use the little corner litter box that came with the cage, but not the full sized litter boxes.. I'll try putting some of their poop in them and see if that helps ! I don't think puppy pads are a good idea as one of the kits is a big biter/chewer and I have a strong feeling he'd just rip them apart 😂 If all else fails I'll just line the bottom floor of the cage with newspaper, they only sleep on the top floor anyway since that's where all their fancy hammocks and blankets are. Thanks for the advice guys !

I had a very stubborn ferret once that tended to reject anything new. I changed their litter and she refused to use it. It was new and different and not her litter therefore it was bad. She would have gotten along with the Croods. I had been scooping her up and putting her in the litter box when I caught her trying to squat on the floor. She'd always give me the evil eye and try at least once more to use the floor instead. However I couldn't stay there and watch her a day. Anyway I finally got her to start using it when I put them up at night. I covered the cage floor with their blanket so that she had nowhere else to go except the litter box. After a few nights of that she got used to it and started using the new litter. She was a grown ferret though. I don't know how kits will react.

I had this problem. I found that I contained them to one level and put a litter box in one corner, a hammock or something hanging so they can't back into a corner, food and water, and then a blanket in the last corner. Make sure the box stays clean but i always leave a little so they smell it. Also, I make sure they have laid on the blanket of they might poop on it too
