Young ferrets will often bite as they learn about what they can get away with. Does she bite and then run away, or stay chewing on you until you pull away? Either way you can try putting her into a cat carrier or big storage bin for three minutes as a time out punishment, then set her free again. Now is the time to begin building your relationship with her forever, so be gentle and patient. Give her treats when she isn’t biting you. It’ll take a few days to a few weeks to really see her personality come through as she gets used to her environment.

At seven weeks, she will still be very playful and normally would have her siblings and mother to tell her off for biting. Factors that can lead to biting include living in a small cage, living on their own, boredom, mistrust and hunger. Do you keep her on her own or does she have a friend? Also, all animals will bite. As long as it is playful and doesn't break the skin you should be ok. If it hurts too much, get a cat toy or something nice for her to bite instead. If it isn't playful biting, I would suggest getting some wool gloves - your ferret won't like the feel of these in her mouth and it might make her stop. Also, as she gets used to you and knows that you are friendly, she'll get much better. It will take a couple of weeks for her to fully settle in, then you will get to see her real personality - at the moment, be really gentle with her and make sure she can trust you.

I found when my ferret bit me, as a kit, I got up and left him on his own. Then I'd come back and play with him again. Any time he would bite I'd leave him. It's the same as putting him in a cat carrier and giving him a time out. My ferret lost his play time with me. He soon realized that he had to play nicer.
