so I'm not sure if this belongs here but I'm always told raw is better than kibble (I have 5 ferrets, cat and 2 toy poodles on this raw diet ( sorry my big dogs, not enough $ to do u also)). but anyway, my miniature poodle severely hurt his back several months ago (was on cage rest for two months). and was on 2 pain meds they thought would be for rest of his life. we also have a 4# poodle who was attacked by 2 big dogs which made the strong possibility of knee operation in her future. well I bought a supplement from a company called www.k9power.com it is called joint strong. it has gotten the min poodle off of tramadol and both off rimadyl. my question is that since starting raw, the dogs who were needing the joint strong every day, I have been able to give it 3 times Per wk I don't know if I should try not giving it to them at all. I gave u the web address so you can see what it is. they are doing great with the reduction which makes me wonder if the raw diet had everything they need to rebuild their body.

I personally believe a supplement can be an important aspect to healing. A regular diet, even raw diets, cannot provide everything for injury and inflammation, and sometimes medications and/or supplements are instrumental in the healing process. You found a great product there, I have used their "Show Stopper" nutritional supplement with my rescue Lab that was bald from the shoulders back with open sores. She was on a raw diet and being treated by a homeopathic vet, without any improvement until I used the digestive aids and supplements. I would wean off slowly if the dogs are showing no symptoms, and if symptoms reoccur step it back up. Good choice

It certainly won't hurt them to continue with it. Just checked it out. It sounds a lot like the Nupro joint supplement I used to use for our staffie.
