As I ask in the subject line, how long can you safely fast a healthy kit for (DOB 1/5/20)? I'm introducing whole prey and have already tried feeding him whole pinkies, one last night and one the night before. He didn't seem too interested in them whole (although he did seem a little more so last night as he at least grabbed it whole from his bowl and, I think, stashed it, though he did so nearby and in the open, hence my lack of certainty) so I cut them up and added them to his rehydrated FDR, which he ate most of the night before and all of last night. I also tried the "Scruff and Sample" method with them. I ran out of pinkies but have a fuzzy and a hopper and was considering trying to feed him the fuzzy whole. I only fasted him 3 - 4 hours the night before (not really much of a "fast") and 6 - 7 last night. I've read you can fast ferrets up to 12 hours but I'm unsure if this applies to only adults or kits as well. Would I be able to fast him 12 hours safely? Also, should I just go buy more pinkies or go ahead and try a fuzzy? I've read through the page "How to Switch Your Ferret to a Whole Prey Diet" and understand that ideally I ought to try again with more pinkies, but if it's worth a shot, and if I can avoid going to the pet store again, I'd like to try the fuzzy first since he's already had a taste of the pinkies. What do you guys think?

I do not fast ferrets to introduce foods---but maybe in morning after a long night's sleep would be a good time.
Does he like salmon oil? I have used that on whole prey. I had to get one of mine to like the oil first.

Since he ate most of his last pinkie, try a fuzzy next rather then make an extra trip to the store.

I would not fast a kit. Just wait until he's a little older and introduce the whole prey.
