Well I finally got a hold of the vet today. I guess insurance is only temporarily denied - they are waiting on medical records, but I guess the request did not go through. So she is faxing the medical records and we are going to wait to see what they say. We are going to hold off on surgery and see if they will cover it first. If they will, then to surgery she goes. If they will not, we will see if she reabsorbs them or not, or possibly do surgery anyways.
She said she can bypass redoing the X-rays again and can instead jut palpate Tito to check for eggs to see if she is reabsorbing them - so like $60 instead of $300 for that little bit there. And she said as long as she is acting alert and normal (other than the eggs she is in Perfect health) and continues to eat, we have time to wait around and see how things go (esp insurance wise) so that is good. She said she is pre-ovulatory so there is a good chance she may still reabsorb them.
Now back to the waiting game! Please cross your fingers that insurance will cover the bills so that we can afford surgery!
Oh and the hormones are a no-go. They do not work well on iguanas, and as she is pre-ovulatory (has not released the eggs from the follicles) they are even less likely to work.

Oh I hope it goes through! I'll say a prayer for this to happen for you Katt!
Would the medical records show that this is a preexisting condition?

They would not have asked for records if she had not written "probable"

Just an update. Sent in the medical records and the claim was denied. I haven't called them to ask why yet, I will probably just cancel VPI entirely. What a waste. The vet said that as long as Tito continues to eat and act healthy, she should be okay for a while and there is still a good chance that she will lay or reabsorb them. Her blood panel came back with flying colors, so we know she is healthy at least. Grrrr....

I"m sorry, that this happened. I hope that things work out for Tito and you. I hold no hope for most of these pet insurances....they claim that they will do this and that but they just "weasel" their way out of paying out. ciao

Any reason why? Don't they have to give you a reason? Gosh, I'm sorry I'm praying she reabsorbs them

Oh, that's insane! I'm guessing she basically has to be at "death's door" before they'll do anything
