Let's start a thread about Covid -19 and how it can impact on us as keepers of Ferrets.
What can we do to protect our fuzzy carpet sharks from catching the virus?
What precautions are you taking?
Do we need to do more?
Personally, not much has changed in my animal care. I am still collecting poops twice a day, with fresh water and food changes also unchanged.
I am always careful to wash hands immediately after handling the girls.
I am limiting my handling time a little and have been letting them have play time in their playpen rather than free roaming.
I'll be doing a deep clean on their cage, playpen etc this weekend with the Odourfresh plus cleaner that I use, which should see them through for a while in conjunction with their normal cleaning regime.
Anyone want to add anything?

My main precaution has been washing my hands as soon as I come in the door, and disinfecting all the things I touch daily. I'm not really planning on going anywhere in the next week or two, so now I can focus on just self-quarantining both of us.

I have been working by myself at work and doing lots of cleaning there even though I'm alone. Then when I get home I make sure I wash my hands. Since it's just Charlie and I, it's the usual at home for us. I always clean Charlie's cage daily with a good wipe down.
Doing the social distancing thing so no one is in my personal space when I do have to go into the stores just to get necessities. I hate shopping anyways so I go in get my stuff and get out. I've been hermiting a lot for the past year so I'm pretty use to this and rather like my private space and personal time.

personally I think this whole thing is hyped, people still are dying more from the influenza then C19. but I don't really do anything different, my ferrets all stay in one room anyway and ive always disinfected my hands after handling as I have other animals though i will most likely was mushrooms blankets slightly more then usual when he fully switches to raw

I haven't changed my preventative measures. Its business as usual of leaving shoes outside, showering when I get home from work/public outings and keeping on top of hand-washing, housework and keeping their cage clean. I don't want to risk them catching colds/the flu so I try to keep things pretty hygienic as a regular thing.
I am finding it hard to find food, supermarkets have sold out of most meat so my girls are eating fancy, T-bone steak for breakfast this morning!

Luckily I stocked up on food for our two and had a big delivery yesterday.
T bones for breakfast does sound pretty fancy.
Cheers

While I have not changed anything that I am doing, the veterinarians in our area have. I have an appointment this morning to take my ferrets to get a pedicure, and they told me to drive up to the building and that they will come out and get them. I guess they do not want a congregation of people in their lobby. I also have to go to my exotic dr. because the regular place we go to for pedicures, are limiting services to more important patients.
Nice breakfast.
