Hi everyone,
I have a female ferret (MM) who's under the age of 3 and she's becoming more and more lethargic since I bought a new baby girl last December. I'm not sure whether MM is physically ill and the timing is just a coincidence, or MM is going through some mental depression or something.
After the first few days of fighting(MM was chasing the new baby to screaming and pooping), there were no more fights. But MM would hide from the new baby and hiss at her (but it's hard to tell who was hissing). And MM didn't want to play with anyone, but would still wondering around the house.
I took MM to a vet on January. She's been checked with Chem profile and blood cell count. And everything went well. A month later, MM is getting more lethargic (even no wondering at playtime)but she's gaining over 100g weight. She's been fed with FDR and can eat a lot everyday.
I'm really worried about her because she shows similar symptoms to my last boy who died of cancer(?): lethargic, shedding more tear in one eye, etc. I took my boy to vet multiple times in 5 months' time. The vet gave the boy several checks and finally told me he got cancer from X-ray test, but he was very thin at that time.
I'm planning taking MM to vet soon, but I don't know what to do if the vet have her X-ray and can't finding anything wrong. What other methods can a vet tell whether a ferret get cancer? I'm going to an Avian and Exotic hospital. The staff are nice people but I can't say I'm very trust with them from my last boy's experience. Or should I try another hospital? But there are only normal cat/dog clinic left. Really need some advice and thank you!
