Hi so my ferret marshmallow has a eye that is red around it and is closed. I just noticed this today. I have caught it early. He didn't have it 2 days ago. He is 7 or 8 years old. Should I take him to the vet?

Ferrets can easily contract conjunctivitis. Is there any discharge from the eye.
Best bet would be to see the vet.
Cheers

Normally conjunctivitis would give a yellow discharge.
Could he of caught his eye playing, or on something sharp? Do they play rough? Free roam?

While my mom was cleaning their cage I put them in our shower tub. I was playing with them and keeping an eye on them. Marshmallow of course trying to escape. So I think he hit his eye on something. At the moment his eye looks much better. He still is trying to hold it close but there is no discharge. The swelling has gone down so I think it is some kind of bruising.

Sounds like he's just bruised himself then. Monitor and take him to the vet if the swelling returns or he doesn't return to normal.
Keep us updated of his healing, be good to know.
Cheers
