Hi everyone, I’m not sure if this is where I am to post a request like this, please let me know and I’ll move without fuss.
The purpose of this post is to reach out to the community and hopefully find someone willing to take on the task of looking after my 4 kiddos. We currently live in Victoria, BC, Canada.
A few months ago, I had my ex in our home to look after them, and I was working. Since our separation, she has removed herself from our lives, and the responsibility has fallen completely on me to raise them. I tried to hit the ground running, learning to look after them while still working, but as much as I do love them to bits and I’ve been trying my best the past few months, I am just not the personality type to own any pets, let alone 4 exotics. I have a busy and demanding work life, and as a direct and indirect result, can’t give them the life I know they deserve.
I don’t want to go through craigslist, or the spca, I’d like them to go to a home that is experienced, and I’d like them to stay together. I know 4 of them is a large responsibility, I honestly just don’t know where else to turn.
Of my 4, there’s 2 of each gender, and one of my boys has IBD, and one of my girls has Kidney Stones. They’re all within 1-2.5 years old.
If you have any questions, comments, insight, assistance, or a home, I encourage you to reach out. I am at a complete loss, and I just want my kiddos to live well.
Thank you for your time, Jay

I truly hope you find a good forever home for your babies. Sherry may know of a site that you can go to as well as this one. I am in the USA and have 4 myself. I remember trying to get a particular ferret from craigslist and this girl screened me. I told her I had some other ferrets, and she wanted me to send a picture of one with me by way of phone. I do not recall if she asked to see cages or not. It has been a while back. I think she kept her ferret as she was really torn about giving it away.
So, do feel free to screen people.
Sorry that the little ones have ibs and kidney stones. To prevent kidney stones in future, you may want to find a grind or a frozen raw for cats, or if a kibble---one without peas. Kibbles with peas are notorious for giving ferrets stones. Wysong kibble for ferrets I believe doesn't have peas. I do not know if anyone has complained on forum about Wysong giving their ferrets kidney stones.Maybe you can pass this info on to next owner should you find someone. Many people do not know this about kibble with peas. I know you care for them or you would not be wanting their best.

I just wanted to say that, oddly I’m going through the exact same thing. However, my ex eventually took 1 of our 3 ferrets so it’s a bit easier for me. I know the struggle of wanting to make sure they are happy and well looked after while still trying to work and have a life and recover from the breakup. It’s definitely not easy. I admire your decision to make sure they will continue to stay together and be looked after.
I was thinking of adopting them out until my ex took the male, Flint. But its still hard, I feel like my two females don’t enjoy themselves as much and I can’t give them as much time and attention as my ex did. I’m still not sure if keeping the girls is the best decision for all of us but right now I don’t really have any other options.
I wish you luck in figuring out the mess of being left with everything after a split and in finding the best life for your ferrets. There is unfortunately a very small amount of help and info on ferrets out here (I’m on the mainland!) but I can let you know if I find anyone who wants and could care for them

Thanks for all the replies so far all of you!
Abbey, I wasn’t aware that peas have that effect on the furbabies, I’ll have to take a look at the ingredients list on the Orijen Cat and Kitten food I currently feed them. I will definitely pass along that information, as it was news to me.
Sherry, I attempted to join that page while on mobile. There was a prompt that asked for a group or page password connected to dookerz, and I couldn’t see the page information where it was supposed to be listed.
Bishop, I wish you the best as well. I have definitely become a juggler in my last few months, that’s for sure! Any help is appreciated, so I thank you for keeping an eye out for me.
