I thought I looked over my couch very thoroughly before we brought them home but I guess not. There was the smallest hole in the stitching behind my couch cushion and my weeble found it. she was only stuck for a couple minutes. We cut a slit and there she was. I am hoping to get some advice on how to ferret proof these areas. I dont want to block her off completely from the area because she loves tunneling behind the cushions. It's usually just me home so she is in absolutely no danger off being squished I always check before I sit down or move around. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Some people have had to completely cover up the soft back/bottom parts of their furniture with plastic/wood because fabric was never going to be strong enough. You could try getting a cover for your couch to make it harder for your weasel to sneak into it.

I have covered my furniture bottoms with thin panelling from Lowes. Hubby used sheetrock screws but some nails would be ok too. Do you have a squeaky toy? They will come running when you squeak it--unless deaf of course, and I got 2 deafies(and two hearing ones). We put panelling on bottom of our bed's box springs even. Next time, I think I will just tear the fabric off the bottom. I do not think they will get in the coils---but who knows(lol). We did lay the other bed's boxspring directly on floor, and my deafie tore a hole in the side. She and my hearing ferret, Annabelle got in it. My deafie followed Annabelle out when I used squeaky toy. Now, I just keep that bedroom door closed. Bottom of a chair

Thanks you guys I have the bottom taken care of now but she got in the couch through the crack between the back and the seat. I'm not sure what I can do about that I have blanket stuffed in there now but I'm sure she will figure those out eventually

I'm sorry but I think it's funny! These guys are Houdini's when it comes to finding ways to get into everything!! I love watching them figuring things out, then you have to figure out how to keep them out and it goes back and forth until you finally outwit them! Does your couch open into a bed? My sister has a couch that opens up into a bed. Her ferret always goes in the couch and hides all kinds of things in there. I've seen those couch covers that are very stretchy and can cover any couch. I wonder if that might prevent your little one from going in there.

I wish I would have taken a pic because when we cut the couch open she was so cute. Like thank God you found me lol. She is a biter too (getting better though) and when my fiance reached in to get her she just licked his hand ❤❤❤ My couch doesn't have a bed. I will probably end up getting a cover. I was hoping there would be away to block the just the crack. She loves running back and forth behind the cushions which I dont mind. Dont want to take her fun awau. Just dont want to have to cut my couch open any more to get her out

I love watching them figuring things out, then you have to figure out how to keep them out and it goes back and forth until you finally outwit them! It sure is a battle of wits. I love watching our two figuring out how to get into all kinds of mischief. Just the other night I caught Bandida pushing books off of a shelf down onto the floor below, initially I was about to have a stern word, but decided to look on. She pushed 3 books down, before using the pile of books like steps to climb up into a bag of Christmas presents that she'd been told to leave alone. I was simultaneously amazed and slightly annoyed. It's a mixed emotion rollercoaster ride with ferrets. I would also suggest using stretch covers over furniture, It took our girls no time at all to work out how to get into furniture. Cheers
