Just found a bump on my ferret's skin, and was wondering if it sounded familiar to anyone. Just some background: he is a 3 or 4 yo Male, very good appetite (little too good, in fact, weighed in at 1550 grams last we checked), with a history of (what was probably) IBS which has calmed down in the past year (stools have been fairly uniform since). He got a deslorelin implant early October, and his bloodwork done at the same time (glucose levels were normal). He is an only-ferret. (not sure if any of this is relevant but I thought I'd include it just in case)
The bump is firm, about the size of a dried pea, and round. No redness/inflammation as far as I can tell, the bump is the same color as his skin (seems like it might be under it, not sure,) and doesn't seem to be sensitive (he didn't react when I touched it). Didn't notice it early because fur is growing over the bump.
It doesn't seem to trouble him, but I'd obviously still like to know what it is and thought I'd check in with you guys before I can get an appointment with the vet next week. Thanks!

Usually growths on skin of ferrets tend to be mast cell tumors. I had my vet look at my girl's ear which she believes has a mast cell tumor. Her's is an oozing and crusty one that comes and goes in the crevice where the ear fits onto the head. Her's is not raised, but my first male had a raised one on his foot it never bled or disappeared. Here is some reading. Let us know what your vet says should you go. vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/ferrets---mast-cell-tumors

I wouldn't consider this an emergency, but would be keeping a close eye on it to see if it grows. Get him in when you can.
