Hi new member here!!! So I woke up today with some chest congestion that is kind of painful. We just got our new ferrets 4mo girl and 5mo male, weeble and wobble. Semi-new ferret owner. I had one in high school but I didnt take care of it alone. My family helped.
I'm just a little scared to get them sick. I'm the only one who can really let them out of the cage because my fiance is never home he drives a truck. The girl is a little bitey (not to hard, atleast hasn't drawn blood)so I'm alittle nervous to let my 10 year old daughter to be unsupervised with them just yet. They are confined to one bedroom for now until potty training gets alittle better.
I'm just looking for some tips to not get them sick! I wash my hands before, during and after I play with them but I was just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to make sure I dont get them sick. Maybe just let them out buy themselves but I'm alittle worried maybe someone dropped something that they can choke on or I didnt ferret proof as well as I thought. lol I worry alot about everything.

Hi, sorry you got a bug. I recommend washing your hands with soap before handling them, and wearing a mask. You can use a dust mask from th harware store if you can't get surgical masks at walgreens, cvs, etc

Thank you! I have a mask but weeble liked it a little to much. She kept trying to jump at my face hahaha. But if that's what it takes so they dont have to be in the cage all day I'll deal with it!

I have had times where I knew I had the flu, so they were confined to the cage for several days until I was past contagious phase. They'll survive.
