My Zydeco goes wild when I open a can. Zydeco is raw fed. How much? How often? Just treats.

Well, you answered your own question- just treats. I wouldn’t give more than half an ounce at most in a single offering, because even in water, they’re very oily fish and will cause stinky diarrhea if eaten in excess. They’re a big fave among many.

Don't use canned fish as a treat. They're cooked, filled with salts and oils that aren't healthy for your ferret. If you want to feed fish you can, raw fish can be fed about once every couple of weeks. ciao

I am also concerned about the salt content.

He gets fresh salmon. I give him some raw when we have fresh. Maybe an ounce as a treat. He likes all raw fish. He also likes shrimp. 1 Med raw, no seasonings.
Anchovies, only a filet. I was concerned about the salt too.
Someone spoiled this boy... At least he's not too picky.

Not all canned fish has added negatives like salt. I've seen canned tuna that was nothing but fish and water. Of course, it's still cooked so it's only good as a snack.
