I’m interested in acquiring one of the vertical tubing toys that stands by itself; clear hosing that wraps around a 4x4 or a PVC pipe. I’ve seen pictures and vague instructions for building one on Pinterest but there are no handy people in my household. Back in 2010, old HFF had a member whose boyfriend offered to build them for $75 but that member has either disappeared or changed their name. If, by chance, they are still here, the name was mjohn143.
I’m also curious how one goes about connecting hosing from a Ferret Nation to tubbies such as a dig box or a ball pit. I’m afraid it ruins the cage but would like other opinions. I’m located in the Washington, DC metro area and unable to travel due to disabilities.

Hi, I would happily build one for you, but I fear that the postage costs would make it uneconomical as I am in the UK.
I have a feeding den which is remote to my ferret nation, which I cut into the bottom floor pan. I have however seen a few people remove one whole side panel and fit a sheet of plexiglass, which they fit a dryer vent bulkhead fitting through, which connects to a hose.
When it comes to hose, I would recommend workshop dust extraction hose, rather than dyer vent hose. It's way stronger and stands up to scratching etc.
Cheers

This is what I did, I fitted a 4 inch blast gate into the bottom of the ferret nation 182. Needed to cut out 3 bars, and bend a forth bar to the side slightly. upload picNeeded to cut a hole in the floor pan also, but overall a very neat finish. To the underside I fitted a short section of extractor hose which joins onto a plastic stacker crate which is their feeding den/play area(they carry their toys down there and play) Cheers

mjohn is no longer a member here, and I don't know of anyone else who does that.
