This evening I cleaned out my ferret's stash-pile so that I could vacuum under my dresser-- I found one of his toys, and link of crochet rings I got off etsy, with one of the rings totally chewed apart!
I feel awful as I know I should have been paying better attention, and have no idea when this even happened! The good news is, his poops seem normal, as are his appetite and energy level. I never would've noticed anything off if I hadn't found this. Plus, it seems as though he mostly tore off the string and gnawed on the plastic, rather than actually eating any of it (pics below):
I also took the string after off the plastic ring after taking the first couple pictures, and it seems plausible that the string I found covered what was missing, but I can't be 100% sure.
I'm still pretty worried and was wondering if I should go ahead and run a blockage protocol in the morning, or take him to the vet?
I really appreciate any advice, thanks in advance!

If you can reconstruct every thing then it might be just ok. I know my boy passed a piece of a mop string that I did not even know he ate. Not all ferrets are lucky though. Now I have to keep my mop hanging up high in pantry. However, i did take him to have a barium -ray after he got into a flower pot that held a big silk plant--- It was anchored with painted styrofoam to look like moss. He made beads out of some of the styrofoam. Barium x-rays make stool come out like caulking and helps push things out(that plant went to my daughter needless to say). I have done the protocol with my Abbey who ate rubber off my phone, and she did pass the pieces. There were a few pieces I could not find that made me go ahead and do protocol. Glad I did.
Sorry I did not give you a yes or no answer---Maybe the others will have a different viewpoint about it and say yes go for it.
