Lupron has to be done monthly thats' why Sherry suggested a 3 month trial. If the symptoms improve then you know you are dealing with adrenal. The deslorelin implant usually lasts about a year. Depending on where you are prices will vary. I'm in Canada and paid over $300 for the DES implant.

Ask your vet to simply treat as for adrenal. Some vet really irritate me. Most don't even bother with the Tenessee panel any longer. And some simply swear by it and refuse to treat an even obviously adrenal ferret when the false negative comes back

the past few days his health really went downhill. he stopped eating and drinking and had trouble walking. I took him to this vet today and he's very dehydrated. and has high blood sugar. they're keeping him there for 2 days with fluids and pain meds. the vet doesn't this that he has the adrenal disease so we are doing a chemistry test to see what exactly is going on, she mainly thinks its something with his pancreas.
He is also bonded with my female and this will be the first time they have been separated since I got him. my question is, while he is at the vet, will she get depressed from him not being here and that she knows something is wrong?
cause since I got back from the vet with her she just seems kinda down but I don't know how all this works with bonded ferrets
- Thanks

s,
You can get a fecal check for bacteria overload(a high amount of bad bacteria in stool).

Price ranges are vet set. It can change from one clinic to the next. I've seen pricing from just a bit over cost $200 to $600 (disgusting JMO) for the DES or Superlorin. I find this the best method for treatment. It must be given every 6 months to work properly and prevent break through symptoms. Lupron is injected every month, is in some places hard to get and is expensive when you start looking at long term costs. This used to be the product of choice and was easier to obtain. I've heard increasingly, about difficulty in attaining a proper supply and costs being prohibitive. Many years ago this was the only treatment for ferrets and unless you could go in with a few others who needed the treatment as well, you couldn't afford to treat. It then became cheaper and easier to get. Now it's like in some areas it's become difficult to get again. This product is also used for humans so this may be part of the issue. I've no idea as to pricing. It's been years since I've used it. I use the DES implant for my adrenal kids and for chemical castration ciao

After being in the vet since Monday, and having tests. We were waiting on a poop culture to see what was going on exactly. There was one day he was a bit better but I got a call this morning that he was having constant seizures. I was told to come to the vet and see him because he probably wouldnt of made it through the weekend. I got there and he could hardly move, couldn't even lift his head. So I had him euthanized to end his pain. It was so hard seeing him like that but I got to pet him and be next to him til he was gone. It hurts so much because it's only been 1 day after 2 months from having my other ferret put down. My heart is broken
