Wondering when to implant him with another Suprelorin- next month will be six months, but he never visibly improved on it. I don’t trust watching for visible signs that it’s wearing off because he’s always gotten balder and he never itched or was aggressive in the first place. Should I just do it at six months forever?

I would do it at the 6m mark. I would also combine it with a melatonin implant to help address the fur issue.

I don’t want to do the melatonin because it lowers blood sugar, rather him be bald. Thank you for the six month vote, though.

BG of 73 this month, five and a half hours after food and meds, and got the Suprelorin implant. Vet said I was wasting my money on it because he just got balder, but I don’t know, maybe it’s keeping his adrenal glands from going even more berserk.

From my understanding, the implant slows adrenal disease, so even though your little fert may be bald, I think it's slowing the progress of the adrenal disease giving him some more time on this earth. I think without it, the disease would progress much faster. Right now, my ferret is getting his once a year but if the disease progresses then I'll start giving it to him more frequently, probably every 9 months and then every 6 months, depending on how it progresses and the recommendations of the vet.
Good to see his BG is up and more stable.

BG of 63 this month, four and a half hours after food and meds. His high cortisol levels from the adrenal disease combined with the prednisolone are really doing a number on his body, his front half is very bony but he has a pot belly, poor guy’s really ugly and it’s only getting worse each month, HAHAHA.

If you can get monthly ferratonin (melatonin) implants, it really helps with clinical signs. otherwise, at least 3 mg orally daily, preferably around mid day. Back in the day, we gave MOe oral melatonin and 1 shot of lupron, and he went from bald to full coat in a month. Pam van Overloop (PVO Ferrets) sent us some (monthly) melatonin implants that replaced the oral. Back then, they were around $25. Once the fur grows back, you can probably cut out the melatonin as long as you keep up on semi-annual des implants. Of course the insulinoma complicates things. Melatonin tablets don't have a nasty taste, so you can just smash em and mix em with oil. we got 5 mg tabs and gave 1 per day then 1/2 per day after the first week.
Idk why, but every time I've ever typed MOe's name in a forum the o is capitalized. HIs trademark I guess.

Does it do anything but regrow hair? I’m just so afraid of it lowering his blood sugar further.

Naked little Winnipeg. You will need to get him a coat. He's not ugly. He's still very cute despite the lack of fur on his little body. How old is Winnipeg now?

BG of 50 today, as it was much later than usually tested (nine hours after meds) though he had food just an hour ago. We decided to leave the pred dose as it was this month as more medication would be harder on his body, we’ll see where he is next month as I got the usual appointment time back. Also got a general exam done, he’s pretty much the same as he was six months ago except he’s now sporting a mast cell tumor on his jawline. We’re keeping an eye on it and waiting, vet says surgery would be hard on him at his age and healing would be very delayed because of the pred dosage. It’s black and squishy and bleeds when you play with it. I was advised to put an antibiotic cream on it twice a day as it’s ulcerated.

That's what comes to mind for me anyways.

Hmm, I have a silver burn cream in the house, I’ll give that a shot after trying Neosporin for a few days and seeing it anything happens.

Big old scab came off the tumor last night and it bled quite a bit, but not too hard to contain. Luckily he doesn’t seem to feel it much, so he wasn’t rubbing his bloody face on the furniture. Had to keep him off the couch until it stopped, though. It’s about 20% smaller without the outer scab.
