you can mix borax with sugar for ant control, but put it where the ferrets can't get, like in a pantry. some ants like sugar, some like protein

Good news, got him implanted with Suprelorin last week and in for a blood check today, and he’s holding steady at 72, five and a half hours after meds and food. He did sport a rash on his back when he first came back from being implanted for about three days, I think it might have been a reaction to an antiseptic they put on his skin or something. He also smelled like flowers so it could’ve been somebody’s fragrance that got on him.

The implant itself is huge, and my vet uses dermabond to seal the site.

Yes, they did use skin glue! The implant is something the size of an encased oat floating around under the skin.

The Suprelorin implant snapped in half! Is that bad? It’s now two distinct pieces floating around under the skin.

Never heard of that happening but I would think that it would definitely mess with the slow release of the hormones it is supposed to do.

Called the vet and they said not to worry about it unless he’s acting different or it swells. I guess it’ll dissolve a little faster with the greater surface area now, like you suggested Thérèse.

the deselorin is infused into the implant, so it's not like a capsule. As far as I know, the body of the implant itself doesn't dissolve, so over time as new implants are placed, you will be able to feel more than one in there.

Yes, my ferret has gotten his second implant and I can feel both in there. Someone on here has said they can feel several implants in their ferret.

Blood sugar of 64 today, five hours after meds and two hours after eating a katydid (I found a big juicy one on a walk and brought it home for him). Also he’s scared of going downstairs again! This just happened two days ago.
There has been some hair regrowth on his neck, but his body continues to shed and shed. We like to slap his bald belly sides. Gently, of course!

Blood glucose of 67 today, hour and a half after eating and eight and a half hours after meds. He is also no longer afraid of the stairs. Still balding on the rear, but his neck is furrier. Getting a little thin lately so I’m increasing what he eats.

I’m gonna up the dose if/when he hits 60, but for now we’re holding steady.

Well, the blood sugar dipped. He was at 53 today, four and a half hours after meds and eating. Upping the prednisolone to 0.3 mL’s. Also had a general checkup today, and the vet said he felt lumps on his neck indicating lymphoma. Got a general blood panel done to see if it’s affecting his body, elected not to get an aspirate done. If it is lymphoma, the only treatments are the pred he’s already on and chemotherapy, which I’m not going to go forward with. Bloodwork should be ready by Thursday they said.

Bloodwork came back and nothing was out of the ordinary, a little dehydrated so I’m gonna mix some more water into his food as he won’t drink on his own.
