I've had my sweet boy Ezra for 5 years, and he is like a son to me. He has had friends (other ferrets we fostered), but typically ends up bullied (he is blind/deaf, very obedient and submissive). He's on a fully raw diet and is registered on the NSAR (national support animal registry). Unfortunately, I have a trip that I need to go on that will take me between 4 to 6 months, and I'm unable to take him with me. I have reached out to family members and local shelters, but no one seems happy to take him. From my brother I got a begrudging "ugh... if I have to", which makes me think he wouldn't receive proper care.
My ideal scenario would be that someone would love him for 4-6 months and closely talk with me. I would be more than happy to pay for his food if anyone could take him temporarily. He is microchipped and vaccinated. His last vet visit was within the month.
What are my options? I don't know if it's appropriate to ask if anyone here has room in their home or heart for him, for a brief while, or if maybe there's another option I'm missing. I absolutely can't bear the thought of parting with him for good over a trip that I have no option not to take! Does anyone know of any avenues I could explore, or could lend a helping hand? This community has always been so helpful and kind. Thank you in advance!

If you were in my part of the woods, I would be glad to take care of him until you came back but I am in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Thanks for the reply, but as this came up so suddenly and I am unable to sort this out for him with his best interests cared for, I have decided to cancel my trip. Thanks again to anyone who reads this.

If something crops up again, check with Dookerz on the move on fb. They would have a MUCH better chance of finding a fostering situation for you
