Hello, I was reading through the file about safe scents and saw the ideas of simmering citrus peels on the stove, etc. I also saw how to make a homemade cleaning spray. My question is, can I make a room spray with the same ingredients as the cleaning spray minus the soap (Just citrus peels and white vinegar). Or what do you recommend as a DIY room spray. Looking for something I can use to refresh my ferret room regularly. I have a Germ Guardian air purifier already. Thank you

Extracts like what you use in baking are also safe to use around them, if you like--vanilla, almond, etc. I'd imagine those would work better in a water-based spray, though. Otherwise, regular laundering bedding and cleaning of surfaces they come into contact with will do the most to reduce noticeable odor (aside from raw feeding, that is).

Oh this is good to know. Perhaps I could do vanilla extract and cinnamon in an oil warmer instead of the wax melts.

Just make sure you avoid any essential oils...you can use anything as a plant form into an essence. Orange, lemon, lime peels...a lot of the herbs can be steeped, lavender, spearmint, rosemary to name a few... ciao
