Since the last vomit episode, Momo has been doing fairly well, until today. She vomited after having a fresh soup of turkey and venison liver (which she was fine with before) she vomited after eating quite a bit of it. She may have eaten too fast? The first time I introduced the venison I gave her small bits at a time, this time I didn’t. Also, it was a bit of a colder soup this time, that may have contributed? Good news though, she has been loving duck neck now. She eats chunks about the size of my thumb. She started doing this out of nowhere, took it right from the older boys. she has so much fun dragging the pieces around and eating them! No vomiting. It’s probably one of her favorites. Happy with how it’s going so far aside from the vomiting. Appa just eats whenever he wants, he does great with all the meats. I haven’t seen him eat big pieces of duck neck yet but he appears to want to. Edit: this is her worst vomit episode yet. It’s been going on for 20 minutes now... Honestly, should I take her to the vet? Of course today they are probably closed and I work the next two days all day. She keeps going pee now, it’s slightly mucousy. Doesn’t smell like anything, just a normal yellow color. She’s not vomiting anymore and it seems she’s done peeing, I’m so worried. Is this an allergic reaction? My 3 other ferrets have never done this.

Are they shedding at all? Do you give them a whole egg once a week? Can you see anything in her mouth maybe?

Are they shedding at all? Do you give them a whole egg once a week? Can you see anything in her mouth maybe? It is the season for it, but I've been good about washing bedding twice a week (with gentle, non scented detergent) and yes they do get the egg. She only vomits after eating meat from a mammal.
I don't think her stomach is ready to digest the red meats, so it goes back up and out. I really want to avoid this from ever happening again as this time was so awful, so I want to create a new meal plan that works for her. I read that duck neck can be considered "red meat" and she does well with it, so I'm going to keep feeding that. So far all poultry has been good to her but any mammals she just cannot eat right now.
She has had... -Turkey. ground
-Chicken. bones, heart, ground, small amount of liver
-Duck. necks, ground.
She has vomited after... - Beef. ground, kidney
- Veal. liver
- Venison. liver
However, my organs are always from beef or veal. Which she cannot eat right now. I can get chicken liver from the store, but the "other organ" I cannot get on Hare Today from the proteins she has eaten. They have this: hare-today.com/product/raw_pet_food/rabbit_liver__kidney_2lb which is rabbit liver and kidney, but I won't be able to tell the two apart to feed correct measurements. I have an order coming in this week of rabbit chunks, so I'll have her try rabbit for the first time. She's doing much better right now, and has eaten ground duck and chicken pieces with bone.

Can you get adult frozen mice? That might be a good option too!! Adult mice can be replaced for a muscle meat if you feed it once a week and if you feed it twice a week it can replace a bone in meal too. That's what I do.

I am not allowed to have mice in our fridge yet but once I move out of my parent's place I will be doing this.
edit: would each ferret get one adult mouse?

LOL oh I see! Yes, it might be best if you aren't at home with mice in the freezer/fridge. lol I weigh my mice. Usually I feed Charlie 2 oz per meal of meat. So I would give him 1 jumbo mouse if it weighs around 2 oz. or 2 smaller adult mice if they are around 1 oz. each. So he is getting his 2 oz. serving.

You will be happy to hear I ordered the "adult mice sampler" from Hare Today! Contains 5 mice. Should be here Tuesday. My mom will have to deal- I move out in 4 weeks anyways. Update - The ferrets are all done with their transition to raw! Took 3 weeks. First time around with the older boys was about 7 weeks. Would have been quicker if Momo didn't have her issues. Since her vomiting episode, I've concluded she may possibly have Waardenburg Syndrome. One of the symptoms is GI tract issues, it could explain the projectile vomiting after eating hooved animals like beef and venison. She continues to do well with chicken, turkey, and duck. I hope to get her to try rabbit sometime soon. She has most of the symptoms with WS including... - deafness - balance issues (always falls over when I put her on the ground) - short limbs and tail - blue rimmed ruby eyes - gi tract issues - abnormal gait I emailed the vet to see if there is anything we could do to officially "confirm" it. Just would be nice to have a diagnosis. Her brother Appa seems to have partial deafness, and he sort of has the appearance of a Waardy, but that's about it. He's been a super easy keeper so far. Very happy everyone's on raw now, just have to separate Momo from the rest for organ nights. She instead gets the Raw Bites since they contain chicken liver. Waiting on my order from Hare Today that has turkey liver so they can all share liver. No luck on finding "other organ" though from a poultry source for her.

Basically baby mice with fur. Adult mice are considered a whole meal. I hope your ferrets like them!!

I chopped one up real small and snuck some in with their duck neck but they're smarter than that! I think they will be fine with them sometime, maybe not whole but cut up for them.

Maybe you need to entice them. lol Do your fuzzies like to chase cat toys? You know the ones that have a toy at the end of a string? If they do, try tying a mouse on a string and having them play with it and catch it! Then they may think it's food to catch and eat!

Wasted a few frozen mice from Petco trying to get my ferrets to eat them. The favorite part of this pic was catching Abbey(DIP)watching Annabelle eat the mouse which she had been chasing on a string (wonder what was going thru her head). Phoebe not into chasing cat toys but liked hers cut up with plenty salmon oil. She eats them whole now --- no salmon oil.
