I was cleaning the cage and put a ramp up to get a litter box out. Goober (Diego) decides to come down the ramp at the exact moment and got his toe pinched in the ramp just as I latched it. It took about 10 seconds to get it undone, and of course hes screaming and jumping around, so he managed to yank out a nail. The vet was going to try to put in a couple stitches. Haven't heard how it went yet I'm off to collect him from the vet. This has been an awful month

We're home. He got 4 stitches but the bleeding stopped and he isn't messing with the stitches. Vet says they tried an E-collar but he wasnt having it. Gonna try to get some sleep and go to work late.

Man. sorry about that. Hope ur little one get's to feeling better and leaves those stitches alone.
Reminds me of my LeeLee as a baby when her paw got caught under the FN142 Shelf. I had to do some prising to get her foot out.
Know what you mean about bad month. Had a des implant put in my Annabelle It wasn't in my mind to do any tests but ended up spending a little over 700.00 for some. Now headed this evening to see our regular vet to see if she thinks mine has a heart problem --lymphoma or what.

Poor wee mite. I hope he's feeling better soon. Tell him he can talk to Bartimaeus who went into surgery on Friday. He's got matching stitches on each side (4 each). I told him it was a wonderful tattoo and that when his fur came in no one would be any the wiser. Hugs to the silly sod. They are their own worst enemy <3 Give him a hug and yourself too, it's not been a good month. At least this wasn't too serious and if it's like Zephyr, you may have one less nail to trim. ciao

I know in a few months I'll be wondering where that dang nail is. He seems to be fine. When he got home, he wanted to get down and search for his buds, but he got a big bowl of soup and went in the cage. We were at the vet over 4 hours. Checked in at 1018 pm and I didn't get home till almost 3. I got my first full-time paycheck in 5 months and the whole thing was eaten up by Scamp, and now this.

Diego/Goober is doing fine, like noting happened. He's become more animated and loving and wants attention more. Still not Scamp, bu t he's trying. We have an appt on Monday to get his stitches out.

Hope all goes well for Diego. He must have really done a number on it.
Many, many years ago I had a ferret rip out a nail. I got home to find blood all over the bathroom sink and had to work out what had happened. Slubber had ripped a nail out while climbing up there. I took him to the vet to have him checked (the bleeding had stopped by the time I was aware of the problem. The vet checked and said that he had ripped a nail out and even a small bit of his toe but that it should be fine so long as it didn't get infected, so I just had to ensure it stayed clean. He also said even with part of the toe missing the nail should eventually come back, which it did. Think it being stitched up may stymy that, but you never know.

Goob got his stitches out today. Everything looks good, minus a nail. BG was 128. Dr Shelly didn't charge us to remove the sutures. He's back to being Goober. In another week or so we'll get back to roughhousing. At least now he can get it wet.

Good to hear that the sutures held in good and that he's doing all right! I pinched a tail the other day (was loading my noodle's travel crate into the vehicle) and one must have poked it out through the bars when I turned the cage around. I heard a not so happy ferret, but luckily they all looked okay when I gave them a quick once over to make sure they were okay (thankfully).

Oh, the whole tail thing....yah, was feeling really guilty last night....I stepped on Olaf's tail....he hadn't been there a second ago {sigh} Not damaged, just offended. I'm so glad that Goober is on the mend and everything is looking good ciao

You are having a rough one, but I'm glad Diego is doing better. Sparrow ripped out a nail once after he got it caught on his pirate ship. His vet gave me some antibiotics for him to help with the pain and his nail grew back, but it took a couple of months.

I though I'd let y'all know that Goob is growing back a new claw. The E vet was pretty sure but not positive that it was ripped out at the bed, but Goober didn't listen. I was hoping to get a better pic, but Dar24 clipped it along with the rest because it was getting sharp and she didn't want it to get caught on something. Got a cool fang shot anyway IMG_2826 by unclejoe1158, on Flickr A little while later, I tossed him on the bed while I gather my puter and stuff. I hear Marsha kitty cry and there's Goob with her face in his mouth.

Sparrow did that once and it grew back like nothing happened. Glad Gobb is doing better though, its painful to lose a nail. Love the "fang" shot too, lol!
