I use a kaytee cage for travel at the moment. It allows me to set up a hammy or cube, comfy blankets and a litter box. I'm seriously thinking of using one of my reinforced travel cages, as a kaytee cage is not going to hold up to any type of emergency stop but at the moment have not decided quite how to set it up. As far as playpens, even though I hate Marshals farms and hate to support them, their 11 panel cage works the best for hotel stops when used with their canvas top/bottom. I've used this containment unit for a number of travels and it works famously. The bar spacing is such that it deters most climbers and allows them to stretch their legs. The canvas stops any water spills from getting on the floors (I have notorious swimmers). The metal is also heavy enough to stop even the most determined hob from spacing them and getting through (something I've had problems with in the cheaper models) ciao

I have 2 eight panel Marshall's playpen and and an eight panel Kaytee playpen. The Kaytee is blue and has a tunnel attachment part. I have used that attachment part to plug the hole I cut in my Ferret Nation. I like to cut three bars and run tubing from bottom floor to top floor and do away with shelves. Anyway I take my Critter Nation top or Ferret Nation top and put in my Suv when travelling and plug up the hole. It takes up a lot of space. I put my 3 girls in it. Make sure your playpens are at least 29 inches high. They come in varying heights for different animals. The Marshalls and Kaytee vertical bars are 1 inch apart. I have never had a ferret squeeze thru it---a kit might. www.amazon.com/Kaytee-Small-Animal-Pet-N-Play-Pen/dp/B000MD3OJOAs far as the Kaytee tunnel attachment I have never used a tunnel for it, so I have no personal experience as to how secure a tunnel would be. I think the Marshall's eleven panel would be really nice ---the two 8 panels attached together takes up a lot of space. I did take an eight panel to a hotel room once. I put a cat carrier in it fora hidey sleeping place, and found one of my females on top of carrier. She looked like she was fixing to scale the playpen. So you might want to just put blankets down for them to sleep under.
