The antibiotics may help, I have used them before, but I try to do things naturally now as medications always have nasty side effects. I hope your little fur babies feel better.

bandit please STOP recommending essential oils for ferrets. Those will never be recommended here due to how dangerous they are over the long term for obligate carnivores. And hezzera please don't give them. The medications they are giving are normal for those illnesses. They DO work. For the heliobactor however you may need to give a second round. As for original Pepto you can no longer get it. Today's version uses an aspirin base which you don't want to have. You can either make some slippery elm bark syrup which will do the same thing holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/89/slippery-elm-bark-syrup-ibd You can also get sulcrafate/carafate from the vet.

Please do not use EO's on a ferret. That being said, what you're treating from the list is a common issue in ferrets. ECE, is a common curse of introducing new ferrets, so is ulcers (helicobacter). You will probably need to use a second round of antibiotics and yes they work very well for what has been diagnosed and I suggest that you get your vet to teach you how to do sub q fluids (it's really simple and there is even an excellent video on how to) especially if you're dealing with ECE. It is also a good idea to have this as part of your first aid kit. ciao

Children's Pedialyte is available and has no sugars. I'm leery about that yogurt rec, ferrets shouldn't have dairy at all, and it may add more stress to a compromised digestive system.
"Can someone recommend a baby food I can syringe feed her?
Beechnut brand chicken & gravy. It has no corn starch.
I'm so sorry to hear about their illness. Keep us updated.

Whelp, considering my vet and myself have been using EO in small quantities with success, and no side effects, that's why I recommend them. Everyone is free to make their own decisions about whether to use them or not. Before there was modern day chemical medicines, people used cures for ailments in nature.

I would think the medications should help get things hopefully back in order for your ferrets to start absorbing things. I mix the carnivore care into the baby food and syringe feed it until they get used to it. My ferrets will now eat it on their own. I hope your little ones continue to feel better.

bandit the "side effects" take a long time to show up. And it shows up as organ failure.

I've had ferrets over 25 years. My oldest ferret lived to be 11 years old. My vet's oldest ferret was 12 years old. I haven't experienced any negative effects of EO. I feed my ferrets organic food, and purified water with no chemicals.

I believe veterinary science has more to say about cats/ferrets and exotic oil toxicity than mere anecdotes. Just consider yourself lucky that you didn't cause obvious harm to your ferrets.
