There is a breeder list on Hedgehog central but it's way out of date so you're better to just ask around on the forum for a breeder in your area
Also be aware that hedgehogs do require a heating system very similar to reptiles (so a ceramic heat lamp, ceramic heat bulb and a thermostat which adjusts the heat + thermometers). They need to be kept in the range of 76-80F with minimum fluctuation. They also need a constant light schedule (a lamp set up to a timer) of 12-14 hours of light per day.
For these reasons and te fact that hedgehogs are prey animal and ferrets are predators and the ferrets will freak the hedgehogs out, they shouldn't be kept in the same room at all.
For the food you want a mixture of at least 3 high quality organic grain-free cat foods with meat and meat meals in the first 5 ingredients. You want the following analysis too:
Protein - 30% (you don't want to go much higher than 35% in any of the foods as this can lead to liver/kidney issues)
Fat - No higher than 15%. Some hedgehogs get overweight and may need around 10%, whereas others are such avid wheel runners that they may need 15-18% to keep weight on. Usually the "weight control" versions of the cat food are best.
Fiber - Most cat food doesn't have enough fibre for them so feeding crickets and mealworms and bugs with exoskeletons helps compensate for this.
Hedgehogs do need wheels too. Solid surface ones, either custom made online or the flying saucer and comfort wheel are OK ones from the pet store.
This diet should be supplemented with cooked meats and baby food (I do not know of anyone who has ever fed a hedgehog raw food and I'm not sure it would be recommended but people DO supplement with live pinkies so whole prey seems to be okay). The diet should also be supplemented with fresh fruits and veggies.
Hedgehogs should have dry food in their cages at all times, and be given a water bowl to drink out of rather than a water bottle.
Definitely find a hedgehog vet in your area before getting one too as a lot of vets are inexperienced and don't know what they are doing
Your hedgehog may need to be treated for mites as a precautionary when you bring them home - only use REVOLUTION for this, never let your vet prescribe Ivermectin....it's deadly and yet they prescribe it so often anyways.
If you give a baby hedgehog it will go through 2-3 "quillings" where old quills with fall out and new quills will grow in. This is really painful for them and makes them incredibly grumpy. Your hedgehog's personality may change during this period. Oatmeal baths (aveeno oatmeal shampoo or non-instant oatmeal in a tied sock) and flax seed oil (on their food 2 times a week and on their skin a few times a week) will help you through this
And finally, and most importantly please be aware that there is no guarentee your hedgehog will have an outgoing and friendly personality. Some are snugglers, some are explorers but most are just plain grumpy and huffy and you will love your hedgehog far more than it will ever love you. They are very different from ferrets. Make sure Chris knows this
