Yes, I think the kids are going to have to keep a close eye on things and having wet wipes (the kind for babies bottoms) available for cleaning the fur are going to be a necessity. My wife is freaking up, but I am trying to convince her it will work out and when we get to my parents we can give the ferrets a bath and we will be ok again.
I feel like we are almost over-prepared otherwise. The ferret enclosure, the cage and the plastic should eliminate any messes. I am going to make sure my parents have the Bissel little carpet cleaner and if not, we will bring ours. I am also bringing an air purifier with me so I don't forsee a problem there. I just don't think there is much left to worry about other than the trip.
My parents have already met the ferrets when they visited with us in October and they are pushovers for cute critters. I came home and found my dad on the sunroom porch sitting out there with them a couple of times while they were visiting for just a week. My parents are in Florida so it shouldn't be too cold and they have a VERY NICE sunroom with an actual greenhouse area where the ferrets can spend time if it is nice outside. They will be in ferret heaven on earth. I can only imagine what they will do on Christmas day with all the wrapping paper!
If I could get my stupid Pomeranian to learn how to socialize with them, the ferrets - especially the female - love him and want to play with him. But he is old and having a hard time learning how to get along with them. He seems nervous around them. I keep a close eye on him, and he hasn't been aggressive but I watch him closely.
Thanks again for all the help and suggestions!
