Dakota is seven months old and up until two weeks ago he was eating very well for me. He was sick for a few days.(sneezing and coughing) Now he has no interest in his food now unless its ground up with chicken baby food. Activity wise he is back to playing and acting crazy as ever. My mother tells me I'm just over reacting about the whole thing. Took him to the vet only to be told he is fine.(they work with exotics) Am I crazy? Am I worrying myself sick for no reason?

It might take a little bit for him to get his appetite back, sometimes when my fluff noodles get a cold they eat less and sleep more for a little while but usually return to normal in a week or so. It’s also a possibility that he is becoming picky, has anything in his diet or regular life changed in the past little while? I would just keep and eye on his weight and make sure he eats and poops normally. As long as he’s eating something, popping, and playing like normal I don’t think you have to be super concerned!
I totally understand where you are coming from though I am the same way about everything that changes with my fluff babies! Always being a worried mama lol!

Read more: holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/24684/crazy#ixzz5Pqh3VNC7Baby food is good basically when they are sick--but once over sickness---I would stop the baby food as it does not have enough protein for a ferret. Ferrets also need a high fat (18%-22%) diet which allows them to digest the proteins and provides for their energy needs. He is probably getting a little hooked on the taste and ferrets do love soupies. Mine would prefer a soupie to having to chow down on meat and bones.

Baby food is not good for them and should only be used as an emergency go to food while waiting to get into see a vet. If it needs to go on longer then other alternatives must be done. Even if it means fine grinding the soupy recipe which is balanced. I only use chicken or veal all meat baby food if I need to syringe feed over night so that I can get to the vet first thing in the AM ciao

Have you tried feeding Carnivore Care or Duk Soup? Carnivore Care has a smoother texture and you might be able to get your ferret to eat that which will also help him get his appetite back. Keep a bag in your freezer for when you need it.

Do not bother with that "duk soup" stuff. For all intents and purposes, it is just cheap ground kibble.
