About a month or so ago I started noticing that Missy wasn’t eating her organ soup. She used to love it but I ended up having to spoon feed it to her the other week. She just wasn’t having any of it so after 2 spoonfuls I let her go. No more than 5 minutes later she was projectile vomited it up 😢 I tried again last night with the exact same results.
The other 2 ferrets LOVE organ soup and gobble it up in minutes. I think Ellie does it to stash it... but in her belly. So I know that it’s edible.
I use 1/2 chicken liver and the last batch that I noticed Missy avoiding had 1/2 pork spleen. The soup that I fed her when she threw up had beef kidney instead of spleen.
I’ve also gotten her to eat a bit of the heart and organ soup lately and didn’t notice if she threw up. But after doing a good clean last night I did find some more ferret vomit on my walls.
I’m not sure if it’s related but Missy also has problems digesting bone. If she eats more than one or two pieces a meal she gets terribly constipated. She will (eventually) poop out 90% bone shards. Even if she only has a full bone in meal once or twice a week the result is the same.
Sorry for the big post. I just feel horrible that Missy has suffered so much because of what I’ve been feeding her. I also can’t help but feel that these things might be related. But for now, what can I do about getting some organs (meat vegetables) into her? I’m ashamed to admit that I can’t be sure how long it’s been since she actually ate some

Try leaving the beef and pork out of it for her and see how she does. Sometimes those are just too rick for some. How does she do with beef and pork otherwise?

I try just giving her unblended chicken liver and see how that goes. She eats pork meat without a problem but beef is not a favourite in our house so I don’t usually try and feed it to them. As for rich meat, she does love duck which I know is pretty rich. It might also just be the texture of the soup. She has always made a funny squishy face when eating anything liquidly.

So she wouldn’t eat the liver whole so I ended up blending it up with some regular chicken. She seemed fine with it and I didn’t notice her getting sick!
But doesn’t she need another organ with the liver? Should I maybe try 1/4 or 1/3 of the kidney with it next time? Or should I just stick to the 50/50 liver and chicken blend for now and do that 3x a week with extra hearts?

I'd try leaving the beef out, and try a little bit of the pork. She may have an issue with beef itself. I had one who had a very severe allergy to beef. He would violently projectile vomit within 20 minutes of eating beef, followed by bloody diarrhea.
