I need some input! I have a male and female. One has peed a dark yellow/brown piddle then a tiny pink piddle right next to that spot with a bit of poop. I cannot be for sure who did it. But my only guess in my male. As the female while out and about peed in front of the door and I saw her and her urine was yellow. My two fuzzies today got their new addition to their cage, with tubes and tunnels and new fun places to play in addition to their regular cage. While connecting the cages Ludo my big boy, snuck past me and went in the upper area with out my noticing and was in there and it’s other exit area tube wasn’t connected and he dropped out! I panicked and watched him and he seemed fine and no limping. Later on about 20 minutes I found the urine. If it was caused from trauma wouldn’t it be redder and not have the brownish tint in the first one? I have to call the vet, but I can’t take them in right now, as I have a newborn and a 2 year old, and the two yr old sleeps with the hubs and the baby stays out in the living room with me. I’m going to separate them to be sure who is peeing the blood. I’m just freaking out right now. I know they can take a turn for the worst very fast and need to get this taken care of. I’m stressing! They are both the same age, 3. I know I need to get to vet. Just freaking out.

Ok so I have separated them and they are eating happily some dehydrated jerky tidbits I make them both have fresh water. Ludo i had out while separating and he pooped which was a normal stool but no urine accompanied it, i was hoping he’d potty so I could tell right then and there if it was him for sure. I felt his belly and I didn’t feel any lumps and checked his legs, he acted normal giving me kisses. Hoggle was delighted by midnight treats and when I woke her to let her know she happily started gobbling. I just wish I knew who it was for sure, but I really think it’s ludo.

So I did seperate them, and i also put shredded paper towels mixed into the litter to figure out who’s doing it... so I just checked on them, and both have pooped and peed twice. Both of their urines were all yellow? I will check again in a bit. I think after that if no luck I will let each ferret out individually into their room and wait till they pee straight into the linoleum into a puddle. The cats also stay in the room partially and have a kitty door to their own room as well. I don’t think it was one of the cats urine as there was fresh ferret poop right by these piddles. Now this is becoming difficult....

So i've watched the male Ludo pee as i took him out and nothing...normal urine. Hoggle's urine in her litter box is normal as well...then as i was cleaning up the urine, two feet next to it was another piddle! DARK dark dark....the ferrets were in their cages all night...i don't understand, unless it is one of the cats. Now I am getting perplexed!

... this evening has been so hard... I walked into the ferrets room to check on them and take a peek and litter boxes to see if any thing... and Ludo hopped out and tried to pee on fabric and kept trying...and trying... I went to look closer and saw blood on the fabric.... it was Ludo.. by this point he was so blocked and so bad it was straight blood. I called my mum to watch the boys and we rushed to the emergency vet.... he said he’d never seen even a cat with this colour blood in his urine, when probed with an ultrasound things didn’t look bad to see if he could also get him to urinate but nothing..when trying to get some urine front him, just straight blood. He felt his bladder etc and said they were distended a lot and this would have to be treated aggressively... but that there was no guarantee that putting a catheter in would fix it, that he could just become blocked again and be right back within a day. They could try and preform surgery and get them out that way, but he said no guarantee they won’t come back and that if they are in kidney well..we know what happens then... I made the heart breaking choice to let him cross the rainbow bridge. I have been crying since 830pm... the vet said with what was going on with him he didn’t think I was making a bad choice... i feel so gut wrenchingly heartbroken... I’ve lost my dog of 14 years to a horrific tragedy this year, my other 13 year old dog also was put down from old age, and now Ludo... and my poor baby girl hoggle has lost her friend and partner in crime.... I’m just at a loss...

I am so sorry about your Ludo's passing. Our animal's are our babies and it is devastating to lose them. But the little one is not suffering now May your tears turn to happy memories when you think of him.

I am so sorry for your loss. I assume he had crystals in his bladder/urethra Poor kitty. We almost lost one of ours to this yearly until he came off the kibble.

Thank you. I am so devastated by this.... and our family will miss him so, I feel so bad for hoggle that she will miss him more than us, I know we will have to give her extra attention to try and fill that void. I’m not sure if we will get another partner for her, she’s so young though only 3, when we got her at a few months old till about 8-9 months she was just with us and loved being the only baby, then we brought home Ludo figuring she might love the company and she hated him at first, took a couple months but then they were thick as thieves. So I just don’t know what to do in that area... if we do, I’d want to get one around the same age, I don’t want to get a ferret that’s been on kibble it’s whole life... it just worries me...
Our Ludo will be buried next to our sunshine ferret who we lost from a tumour attached to her vena cava on the right side of the adrenal gland. We had gotten her from a friend and she was already 4, we had a few wonderful years with her till she passed away in my arms many many years ago.

I am so very sorry. They can leave us so quickly and leave such a big ferret-shaped hole. I hope that you will rest easy in knowing that you did what helped him, and it wasn't your fault.
