Just woke up to check on the girls and there's another huge even longer and thicker orange pumpkin poop in the litter box I didn't end up separating the girls because I figured Sophie had so much pumpkin and vas in her I'd be able to tell her orange poops apart from Olivia's. I'll dissect the poop properly when it's daylight here but it looks like pure pumpkin again so I'm not too worried about finding anything off. Sophie just pooped again too and it went well, no straining or anything and it was actually brown (and sticky as I'm sure is expected) and not as formed or big as the pumpkin poop but at least it's brown again and not orange. I feel like I can finally breathe again, these guys sure love to scare us.

i know you are a new ferret owner. these animals capture your heart quickly and it is easy to obsess over them and worry about things. but i want you to enjoy your ferrets. don't worry so much. believe me you will KNOW when your ferrets are sick. right now they are young. they are in their prime. when they are old and sickly is when you will be justified for freaking out all the time. and believe me, you will look back at these times and say "WHY was i freaking out back then? they were totally healthy and look at them now" so this is the time to enjoy them. even when Sonny behaves badly (this morning he was an absolute TERROR) i rejoice in it and i love every second of it because i know one day eventually that will come to an end and i will be nursing a sick ferret again. not that i mind because i have loved all my ferrets unconditionally.

I'm so glad she was just freaking you out. And panicking is fairly normal with ferrets ;D Miami is right- this is not the time to stress over everything, although I'll admit I did, too, with my first two ;D Vincent had one loose, seedy stool, and I rushed him into the vet because I'd been told how dangerous diarrhea was in ferrets ;D ;D ;D So- it's normal. Once you've had them for a year, it'll be "oh- you've thrown up!" and clean it up, carry on, and keep an eye out ;D

Thanks miami and Sherry, you two could not be more right ;D I think it is just because I've never had ferrets before and then you read all these stories about all the bad things that can happen to them and then you freak out over every tiny thing. I think it must be comparable to being a new parent ;D I'll try relax a little I promise I'm totally not like this with any of my other animals. Cat/Dog/Hedgehog poop/lack of poop/vomit/strange behaviour does not result in instant freak-outs or vet visits the way it does with these guys Then again I think I'm so used to every animal I adopt ending up with health issues that I never fully believe it when one of my animals is 100% healthy ;D But yes they are babies and young and healthy (at least they better be, Olivia still worries me) and I need to breathe and relax and enjoy them being crazy/happy/healthy ferrets
