I feel like a record but I have to keep repeating how wonderful you are doing with your girls. Quail is a favorite of my boys. Wonder if yours will come to find it a favorite, too!

Sometimes organs are a struggle. There are some folks that puree all organs and give as soup because of this struggle. Looks like you won't need to use that strategy but you know about it if you need it! Look at that menu! Seven different protein sources!!

Did the girls have a good weekend? My two enjoyed an egg and some running around with my teenage boys. They also got a cage/room cleaning. They hate when I lock the cage but it is the only way I can clean the puppy pads. The love to get in my way when cleaning.

Usagi vomited a bit Friday but then went about her normal day. I wonder if they food they are stashing is too old? I'm not sure what else can be causing them to do this. They never seem bothered afterwards and go right back to playing.
They have been taking to the new feed pretty well, they were hissing and tug of war fighting over a chicken gizzard yesterday. They didn't really eat their organ meats today but I also feed them later than normal so we'll see how they really feel about the kidneys tomorrow. i'm leaving the 20z left over organs (chicken liver, pork kidney) and 2.9oz duck necks for AM meal.
Is it better to keep chopping of the necks or should I have them the whole neck?

Pork kidney is a 100% favorite of my boys. I think if they could hunt a pig they would! I'm not sure about the vomit - could be she is getting into something? Doesn't usually sound like food. There could be a chicken allergy but I will let katt answer that one. Their stools sound right as well as their energy level. You can try to see if the vomit is occurring after chicken feeding. Cutting bone is really up to what your ferrets will tolerate. Ferrets will eat whole animals (like rabbit and rat) so they are capable of eating it on their own. The really concern is -- will they? You can always offer it uncut and see what they do.

katt (07-25-2018) When Akira vomited she had: thin slivers of chicken heart, thin slivers of chicken liver, green bean size slivers of pork, chicken wing tip and wingette. (08-03-2018) When Usagi vomited she had: Rabbit, pork spleen, chicken liver, chicken heart Doesn't seem to be every time they eat chicken, never seems to be anything but food in the vomit. Nothing around the house seems chewed on, I clean the floors with Vinegar and baking soda, their cage with vinegar, bedding with non scented detergent. Maybe it's hair caught in their throat? neither seemed phased afterwards.

Watch out! Ferret math can be catchy!
I had a foster ferret for a few weeks. I learned I am a two ferret momma. He has a good home now with ferret brothers and sisters.

Hmm maybe another ferret calling your name...? ;P RE the vomiting, is the food somewhat undigested looking? It could very well be that they are getting excited and eating too fast/too much at once. Little snarfs... As long as they are eating, pooping, and playing normally and not dropping weight, AND not continuing to vomit consistently I wouldn’t worry too much. That said, we should still troubleshoot. They are doing wonderfully overall, so I think we should up their chunk size - force them to chew and slow them down a bit. Of course that only works if they’ll accept the larger pieces. Try doubling the chunk sizes every day and see how they do - if we find a point where they ate X size but Y was too big, we step back to X and keep them there a bit before increasing more gradually again a little later. RE the rabbit and quail I forgot to reply - but just chop it all up! When prepping whole animals (whole chicken, rabbit, duck, etc) I first cut off the limbs, then cut the torso into quarters - cut just under the ribs (then you just have to cut the spine and muscles), then upper half split on one side of the spine and sternum, and lower half split the pelvis in 2. It’s easiest to cut in the middle of the front of the pelvis, and off to the side (side of the sacrum) on the back. Then the quarters are more manageable sized chunks that you can further split up and smash up as needed until you get it down to a meal-sized portion. Right now they are still working up to bigger pieces, but as they progress you will need to chop their food less and less, and prepping will get Muuuuch easier. Whole quails are perfectly sized for 2 ferrets. I cut mine in half so each ferret has a half to stash (and usually feed 3 halves per meal anyways), bc I find that reduced waste for my boys. But there’s no reason (beyond being spoiled) that they can’t handle a whole quail. lol

Lol I would love another ferret but my wallet does not agree right now. Food looks digested to me, you could be right about the eating too fast/much. We've improved so much it's crazy.
Food size so far:
Necks: Going to try whole (chicken)necks on their next meal Hearts: I've been cutting the chicken hearts and halves going to try whole on their next meal Gizzards: whole Livers: (chicken)whole Spleen/kidney: Thin slivers when I run out of what i've prepped we should be able to go up in size Quail/rabbit: Random thicknesses maybe about bacon like strips due to smashing.

Let us know if they keep vomiting on the larger meats. Hopefully forcing them to slow down and chew more will help though.

I guess the larger duck necks went okay... they have been fighting over one chunk all day though. The whole chicken hearts also seemed to go well. PM Meal 3.6oz quail I just took the body and chopped it in half and gave it a slight smash. I also removed some of the boxes I had laying around so there's less stashing spots.
