Brief Background, my ferrets Oliver and Olivia are 2 years and a few months old. They were born in the same litter and I got them when they were babies. I fed them kibble because that was what my vet told me to do. I now work at a chiropractic clinic where we see animals, including my babies (no negative comments about chiro care for animals, that's your opinion and I respect it, so let me have mine) and the chiropractor advocates raw feeding to her patients. After learning more I decided to switch... which leads me to today, OUR FIRST DAY OF THE SWITCH!
After reading other people's posts, I thought "sure this will be easy!" but I'm already struggling. My boss cannot help me that much because her schedule is FULL! Like for the next month, so she's insanely busy! So I turn to you my ferret friends! I took away all kibble this morning, and decided when I got home from work (about 2) I would try to give them some ground chicken (mypetcarnivore.com)(yes its the frankenprey percentages and all that, that's not the point here), they wanted nothing to do with it. I scuffed them and tried to put a little on their tongue to give them a taste and they were NOT HAVING IT! So I decided to try some soupie after reading other posts, so I mixed some kibble, chicken, water, etc. and Oliver took a liking to it, didn't eat much.. but still ate it. Olivia won't touch it! I can tell she's hungry though because she keeping searching their cage where their old kibble bowl used to be. I really thought she would be the one to take to raw first since she loves her dehydrated liver treats... but I was wrong. Any suggestions? I don't want to give the kibble back, because I don't want to reward her hunger strike... but I also don't want her to go hungry! Should I try to give them an egg yolk? More dehydrated liver treats? Give them back the kibble? I'm waiting for the mentor program, but really wanted to get a head start. Any suggestions or advice would be SOOOO appreciated! Thanks in advance from myself, Oliver, and Olivia!
