This is more of a question for a dog. The reason I am on this ferret forum (one of the reasons actually lol, I like ferrets too!) is because all other "dog forums" are dead. To my knowledge, this is the only "alive" pet forum on the internet. Been looking up vitamins for my dog. Yeah, I know some people say that if you feed a "raw diet" there is no need for it. However, I feed my dog a variety of FDR/Frozen Raw (can't find good meat near me for her) and I think she can benefit from vitamins. It's just like me (not trying to brag! :0) I eat healthy but make sure to take a "whole food" vitamin...So maybe my dog needs the same? After looking at a bunch of products, I found this, which looks good to me. I'm just confused on few of the ingredients; such as the "natural meat flavor" and the "0.1%" of sodium benozate/ potassium sorbate. I'll give a link to what I found. www.amazon.com/Paramount-Pet-Health-Multivitamin-Supplement/dp/B0752SQBH1/ref=sr_1_32?ie=UTF8&qid=1526489339&sr=8-32&keywords=dog+multivitamin

Commonly you will see people use supplements for kibble-fed animals, and this is because kibbles and canned foods are cooked, so they lose their nutritional value. There's a very specific reason people say that if you feed a BALANCED raw diet, your animal doesn't need any supplements. If your diet is properly balanced they really will receive all the vitamins, minerals and nutrients they need from their diet, and you then adding in extra can actually unbalance things. Animals in the wild do not have access to a bottle of vitamins or supplements after all, they get what their bodies need from their diets.

I hate that forums are a dying social media. I met My wife on one about ferrets, was a member of over 2 dozen ferret forums and a turtle forum, and I have moderated 3 others and was left to admin another that soon passed into oblivion. I miss those dats and friends

I also hate it. And it is difficult enough just keeping this one going. I think the ONLY reason is because of our mentoring program.

I'm really sad too that this forum is slowing down. It's frustrating to see that many of the people who used to post here are now on the Facebook group. I understand that it's probably easier for them, but it isn't for me, and I prefer this format. It's more organized and in-depth, and it's easier to search for information and to keep track of things. I try to post often here to help keep things going, but I'm not sure how I'll feel after Maisie is gone.

I love the closer feel of forums, especially this one 😉 And the fact that you can ask question and get real responses and find a whole bunch of random credible ferret facts. I find that the bigger social media sites have mean people 😭 I love this place ❤️❤️❤️

What kind of dog. Different breeds can have different deficiencies and may need different minerals and vitamins.
For instance Northern breeds can have Zinc Deficiencies caused by lack of absorption. Zinc deficiencies can cause redness in paws, red sores on skin, and even seizures.
IMO Vitamins in a healthy animal just makes for expensive Pee
