So far I've managed to get him to eat a raw egg and a bit of raw rabbit. Its a grind of muscle, organ and bone meat. I had to smoosh it on his mouth so he'd try it. He licked off about half a tablespoon but then had enough. Is that normal? How much should he be eating? It does't seem like much, even with his kibble (about a handful per day). Am I on the right track?
P.S He's 6 month old if that helps any.

Here is a lot of info. Also you can sign up for a mentor. holisticferretforum.com/natural-diet/raw-diet-the-meat-of-the-site/Don't be too discouraged. The raw food its different from what he is used to eating. Keep offering him the grinds. Yes daubing his mouth with the food is the way to do it. If you want to, you can withold the kibble during the night and leave him some grind or a chunk of rabbit. My ferrets like eating during the night. See if it is gone in the morning. It takes a few days to get them to switch, so hang in there. Adult males eat 2-4 ounces per day, adult females 1-3 ounces per day. Kits of either gender eat 2-3 times MORE food than an adult.

Make sure he has an appetite before offering the raw. Meaning take the kibble away for at least 3-4 hrs at his age. I'd get some chicken thigh and sliver it up and try popping a couple of pieces in his mouth. He is at an age where he may or may not take quickly to the raw diet. If he doesn't accept them, then make the raw soup listed in the mentoring thread.
