Ok, so I have a question about feeding kibble and raw.
I'll start by informing you all about what my guys are fed on the daily.
They always have fresh dry kibble available. I feed a mix of Wysong epigen 90 digestive support and wysong archetypal as well as the freeze dried dream treats. I mostly use the chicken but do occasionally use the quail or rabbit if I feel like working hard to get them to actually eat it. ha.
I cut zupreem from their diet a few weeks ago shortly after my Silver got mysteriously ill and luckily only had them on it long enough to go through two 3lb bags and it was always mixed with the ones listed above.
I also feed them a soup twice a day, every day. The first soup around 4pm and the 2nd around 7pm.
The soup is a blend of duk soup and Nupro ferret with a tsp of blended kibble with plenty of raw meats varying from ground steak, chicken muscle and/or organs and raw scrambled egg is added once a week as well as the occasional scoop of powdered kitten milk replacement and/or carnivore care.
My oldest ferret Wolfy loves soup of all varieties but Cinnamon needs coaxing if its mixed with anything other than ground steak. I coax him with a fingernail sized dab of ferret vite on the side of the dish and the he digs in. I would use ferretone to coax him or salmon oil but he hates both so I chose a small amount of that to get him started as opposed to him only ever eating ground steak soup and would rather give him a dab of that to get him to eat a variety of meats and organs.
Wolfy used to eat straight up chunks of any raw meat by itself especially liver! But now won't touch it unless it's in soup and it's because I introduced raw this way to Cinnamon and Silver and once Wolfy had a taste of that he will not eat raw alone. oops. I try every day with both of the still though and always leave some by itself or larger chunks in the soup sitting on top of it. Usually they will eat the soup and the the chunks that are laid in the soup later at night.
Okay, my question is .. Is this okay to be feeding them raw this way? I have known for a while about the possible issues feeding kibble and raw too close together can cause... but this is the only way to get them to eat it that I have found so far.
Usually, they only eat the soup and no dry kibble from 4-10pm because of the times they get their soups. And I don't usually see them going for kibble again until well after midnight and often not at all until close to 4am.
I would just like to see what others here think about this feeding schedule? Also, they do eat some dry kibble around 2 or 3pm shortly after being released from their cage to roam and play from 2 or 3pm til about 8pm
