Hello! I apologize this isn’t an emergency. I recently was given a Saje aromatherapy Geni. I was just wondering if it’s safe to use in my house with my ferrets? As I read Im only supposed to put a couple drops in the machine; I was mostly worried because the oils have:
essential oils of grapefruit, eucalyptus , benzoin, and peru balsam.
and the other has: essential oils of spearmint, lavender, lemon, eucalyptus, rosewood, and cedar wood.
Would it be safe to use the aromatherapy in my living room? 😫
Thank you for your time!

I'm sorry, but I don't think this is a good idea at all. Keep any and all essential oils well away from your ferrets. I don't even use any in my home at all because I also have a cat who roams everywhere upstairs too and the ferrets are downstairs. Essential Oils are not a good fit for them at all, and can lead to death, a nasty one at that. Their bodies have no way to get rid of the absorbed oils, either through breathing or skin, which can lead to renal failure, etc.
We as a group will never advise the use of any EOs near your ferrets.

Thank you for your speedy reply! I’m sure the gift giver will understand. My fur babies come first! ❤️

I hated getting rid of my aromatherapy kit. But as Linda mentioned, it does build up in the organs over time. The reason they are rated as "safe" for pets is they are only tested for about 6 months. The toxins build up over years before triggering liver/kidney failure.

That’s so upsetting! I was super excited to use it but my healthy, happy kids mean way more to me than it ever would. Thank you guys for being so knowledgeable, this forum saves so many ferrets! My babies would thank you too! 😋
