With bone in meals such as chicken necks or chicken wings - I still have to pound them pretty well or he has a problem eating the bone. Most of the time after I feed a neck he leaves quite a few of the bins behind. He is 15 weeks currently, and as been on raw for a month now (since I got him). With the wings he will usually eat around the main bone, but eat the small bone pieces. When I do a bone in grind however he can eat the little bit bigger chunks of bone. Should I stop pounding down the bones?

He should have the strength to eat the whole bones. Maybe try making the bone chunks a bit larger? ciao

I will try larger chunks. Currently he will eat most of the bone, but will leave some behind once hes done (especially with chicken necks). Thank you Heather!

With wings, try just segmenting, cutting the middle between the bones, and whack the sections a couple of times.

That is exactly what I do with wings Sherry . With necks he still has some troubles eating the bones, with the wings he is fine unless its a big chunk that I missed.

No, I mean just smack them once or twice to slightly break the bone inside the flesh. Not chop up into smaller pieces

Hi He should be coping at 15 weeks some eat around the bone ( why should we bother if mom wont do it for us we wont eat it lol) this sounds a crazy statement but its true ! lol often they can become lazy and expect everything to be served so they can just vacuum it down my guys are having minced salmon at the moment and think its great no huge bones its all minced up so we can gulp it down lol little do they know tomorrows dinner is whole rabbit jacket and all lol ( and normally after that meal all I get back are feet and the jacket no bones of any description) if he is not eating it leave it a couple of hours longer hunger is a mighty tool and at 15 weeks he is not going to go hungry lol Bev

Thanks everyone . I gave some chicken necks that I didnt smash as much, and the little butt head left them alone. I will be doing this from now on so he is just going to have to learn to chew on it more
