Hi all! I am new to the forum and have two little fuzz babies both about 2years old. Gypsy is a tiny little girl and nibbles (despite his name) is the most gentle and loving boy. Here they are snuggling after a big play. I am in Canberra, Australia and am v. Motivated to switch my babies over to a frankenprey diet. At the moment they are addicted to kibble although I give them meat about 3-4 times a week and whole quails 1-2 times a month. I would also be keen to meet up with any other Nearby ferrents for play dates or just chats over coffee 😊 Xo

Hello and welcome to the forum. That's such a cute photo. I think I may be a bit to far away for a coffee. there are plenty of people on here which will be able to assist you with the switch

Hi and welcome Hayley. Being from the Canberra region you will already know that Queanbeyan while technically in another state is, in reality, more like a suburb of Canberra. I currently have 3 ferrets in residence but since the demise of the FSoC, many years back, I haven't had the opportunity to take my ferrets out on social outings. My current 3 have never had play dates or even been introduced to people other than myself, so I am not sure how they will go with things. Previous ferrets I have always been confident of their social interactions but even my eldest, Jester, who I have had nearly 5 years now has never been on any adventures.
PM me and lets see if maybe we can arrange something.

G'day! you say they are addicted to kibble but get quail etc regularly. I suggest more meat and less kibble over time, maybe 2 weeks? It should be easier since they already eat prey. Good luck.

So update on the switch for Gypsy and Nibbles I have taken away their kibble and switched them to a raw diet based off the frankenprey model. They seem to be taking to it pretty well - I was worried about the organ part but they really seem to like it yay! I weighed them just before I started them on on the raw (the day I switched their food) and they have both put on a bit of weight since starting it. Gypsy went from 594g to 619g in a week! Nibbles weight gain has been a bit slower he went from 1083g to 1087g. Do you think it would be worthwhile signing up for the mentoring program, considering they seem to be taking to it quite well? -H

Just wanted to welcome you to forum and glad your little ones are taking to raw diet. Read more: holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/24235/gypsy-mister-nibbles-hayley#ixzz5BWMjh4VAI will let one of the mentors answer that for you. I know some have switched their ferrets over by themselves. I had mine on soupie while waiting on a mentor. That was as far as I got before getting my mentor. Of course I have switched a couple additions since then on my own. I don't know if you have to submit a weekly diet example(with variety) and do a little test like those who are mentored. Test is based on the info about diet. Very good info to know. I think you get the status of "raw feeder." I do not see that under my name although it once was.
